Trump rejects Iranian proposal to reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iran's proposal demanded an end to the US naval blockade on Iranian ports, the lifting of petroleum sanctions, the unfreezing of assets, and a complete cessation of military actions. Tehran emphasized that the vital shipping route will remain closed until Washington fulfills these conditions.

The diplomatic stalemate comes amid escalating military actions in the passage. Iranian forces recently deployed rocket-launched naval mines into the waterway after US forces carried out a strike on Larak Island and began providing nighttime escorts for commercial oil tankers. Despite Washington's refusal, diplomatic mediators indicate Tehran may still pursue negotiations if the US demonstrates genuine commitment to resolving the conflict.
