Trump pushes for Ukraine peace agreement before winter

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks a diplomatic resolution to the war in Ukraine, following a recent telephone conversation between the two leaders. Trump urged both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Putin to reach a settlement before winter, stating, "if Zelensky wants a deal, that would be great."

Zelensky characterized his discussions with Trump as "positive and productive," noting a shared interest between Kyiv and Washington in bringing the war to an end in the coming months. Despite the optimistic diplomatic statements from both sides, neither leader has detailed concrete conditions or a formal framework for potential negotiations.
