U.S. President Donald Trump indicated a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be near, despite ongoing regional security threats.

U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be finalized within days, citing progress in Omani-mediated negotiations with Iran. Iranian officials confirmed ongoing talks with Muscat aimed at establishing secure maritime routes, though Tehran seeks authority over shipping traffic.

Concurrently, Tehran warned it would target energy infrastructure across Gulf states if Washington launches further military strikes. Following the statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi initiated urgent consultations with Saudi Arabian counterparts.

Elsewhere in the region, an Indian merchant vessel was struck and sunk off the coast of Yemen. In Rome, Lebanese and Israeli representatives convened for a seventh round of talks, as United Nations officials noted that approximately 800,000 displaced civilians have begun returning to southern Lebanon.
