U.S. President Donald Trump indicated a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached soon as Iran-Oman negotiations progress and regional talks unfold in Rome.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be reached shortly, citing significant progress in negotiations mediated by Oman. Tehran and Muscat are discussing secure shipping lanes, though Iranian officials maintain demands for traffic oversight and potential intervention capabilities.

Meanwhile, Tehran reiterated warnings of retaliatory strikes against energy infrastructure in neighboring Persian Gulf nations should Washington initiate new military actions. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held emergency consultations with Saudi Arabian diplomats.

Separately, an Indian merchant vessel sank near Yemen following an attack. In Rome, Lebanese and Israeli envoys began a seventh round of bilateral talks, while the United Nations confirmed that roughly 800,000 displaced Lebanese civilians have started returning to the country's southern region.
