U.S. President Donald Trump suggested a deal regarding the Strait of Hormuz is close, while Iran insists the passage will remain closed until Washington alters its policies.

U.S. President Donald Trump indicated a deal to resolve the Strait of Hormuz crisis could be reached imminently, asserting that the vital maritime passage remains "open and operational." However, maritime reports showed commercial traffic fell further following a recent attack on a vessel.

Tehran dismissed prospects of direct negotiations with Washington, stating the waterway will stay closed until the U.S. changes its regional policies. Iranian officials specified that current talks with Oman focus exclusively on establishing safe shipping corridors. Trump maintained that no direct talks are scheduled while reiterating that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons.

Concurrently, broader peace efforts faced obstacles in Gaza, where Israel insisted on the complete disarmament of Hamas prior to any troop withdrawal, despite Hamas accepting the second phase of a U.S.-backed plan.
