U.S. President Donald Trump stated a deal on the Strait of Hormuz could be reached soon, while Iran insists the passage will stay closed until U.S. policies change.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that an agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz could be finalized within days. However, he emphasized that no direct negotiations with Tehran are currently scheduled. Trump warned that "nothing will get through" to Iran without a deal or surrender, while threatening military action if Oman or Iran disrupt U.S. objectives.

Tehran reiterated that the strategic passage will remain closed until the U.S. changes its policies, adding that the waterway will never return to its pre-war status. Iranian officials clarified that ongoing discussions with Oman focus solely on establishing safe maritime routes. Despite U.S. claims that the passage remains operational, commercial vessel traffic through the strait fell by an additional 20 percent last week following a recent attack on a ship.
