Trump expresses confidence that Putin wants peace deal with Ukraine

US President Donald Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking a diplomatic settlement to end the war in Ukraine, following a phone conversation between the two leaders. Speaking after a subsequent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump urged both sides to negotiate an agreement before winter.

Zelensky characterized his meeting with Trump as "positive and productive," noting that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of concluding hostilities in the coming months. Trump maintained that a resolution remains possible, stating that "he wants a deal" if Ukraine is also willing to enter negotiations.
