Trump claims Putin wants deal to end war in Ukraine before winter

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated his belief that Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine. Following a telephone call with Putin, Trump called on both the Russian leader and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate a settlement, remarking, "He wants a deal and, if Zelensky wants a deal, that would be great."

Zelensky described his discussions with Trump as positive and productive, noting that both Ukraine and the United States aim to end the conflict before the upcoming winter. While both leaders expressed optimism regarding a potential cessation of hostilities, no specific terms of any prospective peace agreement have been publicly outlined.
