Trump and Xi hold White House talks on Ukraine and global security
US President Donald Trump held White House talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, addressing Ukraine, Middle East tensions, and regional stability during Xi's state visit.
US President Donald Trump hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House during Xi's first state visit to the United States in over a decade. In a rare diplomatic gesture, Trump personally greeted Xi at the aircraft stairs upon arrival.
Official communications indicated that bilateral talks addressed key global security issues, including the war in Ukraine, escalating tensions in the Middle East, and stability on the Korean Peninsula. The discussions follow requests from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for Washington to urge Beijing to leverage its relationship with Moscow toward de-escalation. Analysts noted that Beijing may seek economic or geopolitical concessions from Washington in exchange for adjusting its stance on Russia.
