Escalation near the Strait of Hormuz continues as US forces destroy Iranian vessels and Tehran responds with missile strikes on bases in Jordan.

Military confrontation between the United States and Iran has intensified near the Strait of Hormuz following reciprocal strikes. According to US Central Command, American forces destroyed five Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps vessels after neutralizing an attack against US warships.

In response, Iranian state media reported that Tehran launched 20 missiles targeting American military bases in Jordan and struck six vessels, including an aircraft carrier and three oil tankers. American intelligence officials warned that Iranian forces may further escalate actions in the region.

Despite the exchange, US President Donald Trump stated that Tehran is in "great difficulty" while confirming that emergency teams managed to extinguish a tanker fire, keeping the strategic waterway operational.
