Iran insists the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until US sanctions end, despite Washington rejecting Tehran's seven-day reopening proposal amid rising military tensions.

Tehran has reaffirmed that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until Washington meets its demands, which include lifting oil sanctions, unfreezing Iranian assets, and halting military operations. Despite US President Donald Trump rejecting an Iranian proposal to reopen the strategic corridor within seven days in exchange for reduced military pressure, Iranian officials stated they are still awaiting a "definitive position" from Washington.

Simultaneously, military confrontations surrounding the passage have intensified. Following a US air strike on Iran's Larak Island and nighttime naval escorts for commercial tankers, Iranian forces responded by deploying rocket-launched naval mines into the strategic waterway, heightening risks of further escalation.
