Talks on Strait of Hormuz navigation advance as US and Iran exchange terms

Negotiations between Iran and Oman over the Strait of Hormuz advance as Tehran demands US concessions, while Donald Trump warns of severe consequences if passage stays shut.
Negotiations between Iran and Oman aimed at securing safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz have entered advanced stages, though significant obstacles persist. Iranian officials maintain that fully reopening the strategic waterway depends on United States concessions, including sanctions relief, compensation for war damages, and Iranian oversight of entry and exit maritime corridors.
United States President Donald Trump suggested an agreement could be finalized rapidly, while warning of severe repercussions if passage remains blocked. Trump characterized the diplomatic standoff as comparable to a chess match, asserting that Washington faces limited economic strain while pointing to Tehran's severe domestic inflation.
In parallel regional developments, Lebanese and Israeli envoys began a seventh round of talks in Rome, coinciding with United Nations reports that roughly 800,000 displaced Lebanese residents have started returning to southern Lebanon.
