Opposition forces maintain a narrow 176-173 seat lead in Sweden's election count as the Sweden Democrats report national losses alongside local victories.

Following Sweden's general election, preliminary vote counts show the opposition holding a narrow lead of 176 seats to the governing bloc's 173. The Social Democrats have demanded Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson resign as national forecasts point to an opposition victory.

Despite national projections showing the Sweden Democrats dropping to 17.5 percent from 20.5 percent in 2022, party leader Jimmie Åkesson refused to concede, stating "there is no obvious winner in this election" while maintaining demands for cabinet posts. Senior party officials expressed concern over losing younger voters and supporters to the Moderate Party. However, the party secured local triumphs, achieving a 39 percent landslide in Färgelanda.
