The Sweden Democrats suffered their first national election decline, falling to 17.5 percent, while party leader Jimmie Åkesson continues to demand government cabinet seats.

The Sweden Democrats experienced their first national election setback, securing 17.5 percent of the vote compared to 20.5 percent in 2022. Party official Tobias Andersson described the loss of younger voters and shifts toward the Moderate Party as concerning. Despite the national decline, party leader Jimmie Åkesson maintained demands for cabinet posts, declaring that "there is no obvious winner in this election."

In municipal voting, the party achieved a record 39 percent in Färgelanda, making it their strongest stronghold following local disputes over school closures. Separately, the court trial of former party lawmaker Katja Nyberg has been postponed.
