New polling shows Sweden's Moderate Party rising to 22.3 percent after election losses for the Sweden Democrats, even as Jimmie Åkesson continues cabinet demands.

Following Sweden's election, new polling by SVT/Verian shows the Moderate Party reaching its highest support level in five years, rising to 22.3 percent from 19.9 percent. The increase comes as the Sweden Democrats experienced their first-ever drop in a national election, falling to 17.5 percent from 20.5 percent in 2022 after losing voters to the Moderates and younger demographics.

Despite the setback, Sweden Democrat leader Jimmie Åkesson rejected claims of defeat, stating "there is no obvious winner in this election" and maintaining demands for cabinet posts in government negotiations. Meanwhile, the party achieved local success in Färgelanda, securing 39 percent of the municipal vote.
