Spain has established temporary centers in Ceuta for around 2,000 remaining migrants after a major late-July border crossing.

Spanish authorities have established two temporary reception facilities in Ceuta to accommodate roughly 1,800 to 2,000 migrants remaining in the enclave. The move follows a major border incident in late July, when an estimated 72,000 people crossed into the Spanish territory from Morocco, though the vast majority returned shortly after.

The new shelters aim to clear public spaces and beaches where hundreds had been sleeping outdoors. Meanwhile, joint security operations by Spanish and Moroccan forces successfully deterred a second coordinated crossing rumored for mid-August.

Despite the calmer perimeter, local frustration in Ceuta remains high due to pressure on municipal infrastructure and political friction surrounding the crisis.
