Spanish authorities have moved nearly 2,000 migrants in Ceuta into temporary camps as local tensions persist after July's mass border crossing.

Spanish authorities have relocated approximately 2,000 migrants in Ceuta into two temporary facilities to clear public beaches and streets following July's border influx. Nearly three weeks after an estimated 72,000 individuals crossed into the enclave from Morocco, around 1,800 to 2,000 remain while the majority have returned.

Heightened security operations by Spanish and Moroccan forces successfully averted a rumored second border crossing attempt on 15 August. Despite government measures to provide basic shelter and clear areas such as Playa del Trampolín, local residents continue to express frustration regarding ongoing public disruptions and political exploitation of the emergency.
