Spain has opened temporary reception centers in Ceuta to shelter around 2,000 migrants remaining after July's mass border crossing.

Spanish authorities have established two temporary reception facilities in the North African enclave of Ceuta to accommodate approximately 1,800 to 2,000 migrants remaining in the territory. The measures follow a major border crossing in late July when tens of thousands entered from Morocco. The new centers aim to clear public streets and beaches where hundreds had been sleeping under makeshift shelters.

Security forces from Spain and Morocco heavily reinforced the border ahead of mid-August following online rumors predicting further mass attempts, preventing new breaches. Meanwhile, tension among local residents remains elevated. While some locals describe the situation as an "invasion," others express anger toward right-wing political figures accused of exploiting the crisis for political gain.
