Local authorities estimate up to 5,000 migrants remain in Ceuta as Spain faces a 15-day deadline to relocate unaccompanied minors to the mainland.

Following the massive migration influx into Ceuta, local authorities estimate that between 3,000 and 5,000 migrants remain in the Spanish enclave out of an estimated 80,000 who crossed. Moroccan officials previously acknowledged 40,000 entries into Ceuta, 1,135 into Melilla, and 11 fatalities on Moroccan territory.

Internal political fallout in Madrid intensified as Moncloa dismissed a National Security Department communications official after the agency briefly published a report stating 49,000 migrants had entered. Additionally, political friction has emerged between Spain's Interior and Defense ministries over military deployments and border returns.

Under Spain's immigration framework, the central government must now relocate hundreds of newly arrived unaccompanied minors to mainland autonomous communities within 15 days.
