Former national captain Aleš Čeh and striker Jan Mlakar offer insights into their football careers and the Maribor-Olimpija rivalry.

Former Slovenian national team captain Aleš Čeh and forward Jan Mlakar have shared perspectives on their careers and domestic club developments ahead of the upcoming rivalry between Olimpija Ljubljana and Maribor.

Čeh, who captained Slovenia during its acclaimed international era, transitioned into coaching alongside Srečko Katanec, spending over a decade in assistant roles, including seven years in Asia. Despite his ties to Olimpija and Grazer AK, Čeh maintained respect for Maribor.

Ljubljana-born forward Mlakar reflected on returning to Maribor for a third spell. He noted that while Olimpija is experiencing competitive struggles, derby fixtures allow out-of-form teams a chance to reset.
