Former Slovenian national football team figures Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar have provided reflections ahead of the upcoming derby between NK Maribor and Olimpija Ljubljana.
Aleš Čeh, a former national team captain who spent over a decade as an assistant coach under Srečko Katanec and seven years coaching in Asia, reiterated his affection for Olimpija while maintaining respect for Maribor. Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Jan Mlakar discussed his third spell with Maribor. Expressing confidence in club leadership figures Zlatko Zahović and Darko Milanič, Mlakar dismissed past transfer rumors, stating he was "never close to joining Olimpija." He added that while Olimpija currently struggles with form, derby matches remain unpredictable and offer an opportunity to regain momentum.
