Former captain Aleš Čeh and striker Jan Mlakar discussed their careers and the upcoming derby between Olimpija Ljubljana and Maribor.

Slovenian football figures have shared their insights ahead of the upcoming derby between rivals Olimpija Ljubljana and Maribor.

Former national team captain Aleš Čeh reflected on his playing and coaching career. Čeh, who led Slovenia during manager Srečko Katanec’s tenure and spent over a decade as his assistant coach—including seven years in Asia—expressed affection for Olimpija Ljubljana and Austrian club Grazer AK while maintaining respect for Maribor.

Meanwhile, Ljubljana-born striker Jan Mlakar discussed returning to Maribor for a third spell. Mlakar stated that despite his hometown roots, he never felt connected to Olimpija and voiced confidence in Maribor's management. Commenting on the fixture, Mlakar noted that although Olimpija is currently experiencing a difficult period, a derby match offers an ideal opportunity for a struggling team to recover.
