Former Slovenian international football figures Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar have reflected on their careers and the enduring rivalry between Olimpija Ljubljana and NK Maribor ahead of upcoming domestic fixtures.

Čeh, former captain of the national team, discussed his transition into coaching after over a decade assisting manager Srečko Katanec, including seven years spent in Asia. Despite his long-standing affiliation with Olimpija and Austrian club GAK, Čeh maintained mutual respect for Maribor.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old forward Jan Mlakar rejoined Maribor for his third stint. Despite growing up in Ljubljana, Mlakar clarified he was "never close to joining Olimpija," adding that although Olimpija currently faces internal difficulties, "in the derby they can only gain."
