Ségolène Royal secures endorsements for French left-wing primary

Ségolène Royal has secured the necessary endorsements to compete in the French left-wing primary ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Former French presidential candidate Ségolène Royal has secured the required endorsements to compete in the left-wing primary for the 2027 presidential election. Royal will join six other declared candidates in the two-round contest scheduled for October 9–10 and October 16–17, co-organized by the Socialist Party and Place Publique.
Among the competing candidates is Socialist Party First Secretary Olivier Faure, who recently confirmed his campaign. In contrast, Communist Party leader Fabien Roussel has decided to skip the primary, choosing instead to launch an independent bid.
Although participants initially pledged to refrain from internal attacks, Royal drew attention after calling rival candidate Raphaël Glucksmann the "media darling."
