Diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran continue via Qatari mediation, despite recent US strikes in the Strait of Hormuz and new American financial demands.

Qatar reports ongoing negotiations aimed at securing an agreement between Washington and Tehran, raising hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough. According to Qatari mediators, discussions remain active and could yield results shortly.

The diplomatic push follows Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presenting Tehran's terms to US envoy Steve Witkoff during UN-related talks. Iran demanded an immediate end to the US naval blockade, the release of frozen assets, and a total cessation of hostilities in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

However, significant hurdles remain. US President Donald Trump announced Washington will demand financial compensation from Iran for past fatalities, complicating negotiations. Simultaneously, US forces struck two missile launchers on Larak Island, while Iranian state media confirmed six naval personnel were killed in recent strikes.
