Bulgaria and Ukraine are investigating after a drone matching models used by Ukrainian forces crashed near a gas pipeline in northeastern Bulgaria.

Ukrainian and Bulgarian authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding a drone crash near a gas pipeline in northeastern Bulgaria over the weekend. Bulgaria's Ministry of Defense stated that the recovered wreckage corresponds to an unmanned aircraft type widely used by Ukrainian armed forces, while noting there is no evidence suggesting an intentional attack.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Georgiy Tykhy confirmed that Ukraine did not deliberately target Bulgarian territory and promised a comprehensive inquiry. Tykhy added that Ukrainian officials are maintaining close contact with Bulgarian authorities to clarify how the aircraft strayed off its intended path. The incident resulted in no reported casualties or structural damage to the energy network.
