Israel has rejected a 15-point US-backed Gaza peace plan, ruling out a Palestinian state, while Hamas expressed readiness to move forward with the initiative.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally rejected a 15-point post-war Gaza peace initiative drafted by a US-led peace committee, reiterating that Israeli forces will not withdraw until Hamas is fully disarmed. Netanyahu also reiterated his firm opposition to the creation of an independent Palestinian state in Gaza or the West Bank.

In contrast, Hamas officials conveyed their willingness to proceed with the American framework, urging Washington to exert pressure on Israel to implement the agreement.

Meanwhile, reports surfaced that Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz have quietly permitted reconstruction and infrastructure projects in parts of southern Gaza outside Hamas control, seemingly softening earlier stipulations that rebuilding would only occur following complete demilitarisation.
