Iran has adopted an offensive military posture after 60-day peace talks with the US collapsed, triggering clashes near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has shifted to an entirely offensive military strategy following the collapse of peace negotiations with the United States. The turn comes as a temporary 60-day memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington expired, with US officials declining to extend the truce.

Iranian military leadership declared they would not back down until achieving the "complete defeat" of American forces in the region. The rhetoric coincides with heightened maritime clashes near the Strait of Hormuz. According to US Central Command, American forces targeted five Iranian oil tankers, sinking one vessel, in retaliation for two Iranian strikes against a US warship.

Analysts warn that ongoing economic sanctions and direct military engagements risk reigniting broader regional conflict as maritime security deteriorates.
