Iran maintains its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz as maritime traffic remains down by over 80% and military clashes intensify.

Six months after Iran restricted access to the Strait of Hormuz following US and Israeli strikes, maritime traffic remains severely disrupted, dropping from 95 to around 15 daily transits.

Tehran reiterated that the waterway will not fully reopen until Washington lifts port blockades, ends oil sanctions, unfreezes Iranian assets, and halts regional military operations.

Despite Iran reaching a technical agreement with Oman to design a safe transit route, military confrontations have intensified. Tensions escalated after American forces struck Iran's Larak Island to disrupt mine-laying operations. Iranian forces had reportedly deployed rocket-launched mines to target nocturnal US oil shipments through the strait, raising concerns over a potential new cycle of military escalation.
