Iran and Oman reach agreement on Strait of Hormuz transit route

Iran and Oman have agreed on coordinates for a Strait of Hormuz transit route, though Tehran maintains that reopening the waterway requires meeting further conditions.
Iran and Oman have finalized the geographical coordinates for a designated shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei. While Baghaei noted the agreement is in its "final stage," he warned that bilateral coordination alone cannot guarantee maritime security while US economic sanctions persist, adding that third parties could still disrupt the outcome.
The potential reopening of the strategic waterway remains complex. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that fully restoring transit is "subject to other conditions," including Iranian demands for war damage compensation.
Concurrently, security concerns persist in the region. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported two unexplained explosions near an oil tanker off the coast of Oman. The vessel and crew were reported safe, with no environmental damage recorded.
