Iran and Oman finalize shipping route coordinates for Strait of Hormuz

Iran and Oman are finalizing technical coordinates for a safe shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, though Iranian officials caution broader sanctions issues remain.
Iran and Oman have reached the final stage of drafting an agreement defining exact coordinates for a safe transit route through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian officials confirmed. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei noted that a joint announcement is being finalized, though he cautioned that progress remains vulnerable to interference from third parties.
Despite the bilateral progress, Iranian representatives stressed that technical coordination with Oman alone cannot guarantee full maritime security or fully reopen the strategic shipping corridor while US economic measures persist. Washington officials also anticipated an agreement shortly to help normalize commercial traffic.
Meanwhile, security concerns in the region continue following reports from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations regarding two unexplained explosions near an oil tanker off the coast of Oman. The ship and its crew were reported safe.
