Iran and Oman agree on Strait of Hormuz shipping corridor coordinates

Iran and Oman have agreed on coordinates for a Strait of Hormuz transit corridor, though Tehran notes reopening remains tied to further conditions amid ongoing maritime security incidents.
Tehran and Muscat have established geographical coordinates for a commercial maritime transit route through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian foreign ministry officials.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced that the bilateral arrangement is approaching its final stages, though he cautioned that the bilateral accord alone cannot ensure safe navigation without regional de-escalation and an absence of external interference. In parallel remarks, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that fully restoring traffic through the waterway remains subject to additional conditions, including compensation for war damages.
The diplomatic negotiations coincide with continued hazards in regional shipping lanes. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported two explosions near a commercial oil tanker off the coast of Oman, confirming that the vessel and crew remained safe and suffered no environmental damage.
