Tehran has agreed with Oman on a safe transit route through the Strait of Hormuz, but maintains the strategic waterway will stay closed until the US meets its demands.

Six months after maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz dropped from 95 to approximately 15 daily transits, diplomatic and military tensions around the choke point remain high. Iran announced a technical agreement with Oman to establish a safe navigation route across the strategic waterway following positive talks.

However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated the strait will not fully reopen until Washington meets specific demands. These include lifting oil sanctions, unfreezing Iranian assets, ending port blockades, and halting military operations across all fronts. Meanwhile, senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders promised "strategic surprises" and rejected pressure from US President Donald Trump, asserting their forces will maintain their defensive posture until American troops are defeated.
