German media outlets launch survey on rising prescription drug addiction

Correctiv and Der Spiegel have launched a nationwide investigation into prescription drug addiction in Germany, gathering over 2,500 responses so far.
German investigative newsroom Correctiv and news magazine Der Spiegel have launched a joint nationwide initiative to investigate prescription drug addiction across Germany. The project focuses on the growing abuse of painkillers and sedatives, such as Tilidin, Oxycodone, and benzodiazepines, which media organizations describe as a stealthy trend with limited reliable official data.
To build a comprehensive picture of the issue, the outlets opened a nationwide survey targeting individuals struggling with dependency, their relatives, and healthcare professionals. The ongoing investigation has already gathered over 2,500 responses and personal accounts detailing experiences with prescription medication misuse and the challenges of seeking help.
