French firefighters have brought a wildfire in Aude under control after it burned 100 hectares, as total land burned nationwide hits 115,000 hectares.

French firefighters have contained a wildfire in the Corbières massif in the Aude department after it burned 100 hectares near Montséret and Saint-André-de-Roquelongue. The operation deployed 240 personnel, 60 vehicles, and ten aircraft. Meanwhile, a separate blaze in Puilaurens remains active due to steep terrain, though its perimeter has stabilized at 225 hectares.

Emergency crews have extinguished a fire in the Var department, where authorities restricted access to seven forest massifs due to extreme risk. Fires in the Drôme department are contained, and the major blaze in Gironde has stopped advancing. Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu will visit Gironde on August 17 to launch restoration efforts. Official figures indicate wildfires have burned 115,000 hectares across France this year.
