France's Constitutional Council has validated new end-of-life legislation with reserves, while striking down a proposed social media ban for minors under 15.

France’s Constitutional Council has validated landmark legislation establishing a right to end-of-life care, while striking down a proposed ban on social media for children under 15.

The high court ruled that parliament acted within its constitutional authority on assisted dying, attaching three interpretation reserves. Notably, these include a conscience clause allowing private and religious healthcare institutions to opt out of performing procedures. President Emmanuel Macron commended the court’s decision, calling it the completion of an "exemplary democratic debate." The council additionally approved an emergency agricultural law.

However, the court censured the primary provision of a separate bill prohibiting social media access for minors under 15, deeming a general ban a disproportionate restriction on personal liberties.
