France's Constitutional Council approved end-of-life legislation with reservations while striking down a general social media ban for minors under 15.

France’s Constitutional Council has validated legislation establishing a right to assisted dying while striking down a proposed ban on social media for children under 15.

The constitutional court declared the end-of-life bill constitutional, applying three interpretative reservations. These include an explicit conscience clause permitting private and religious healthcare facilities to opt out of offering end-of-life procedures. French President Emmanuel Macron praised the ruling, characterizing it as completing a democratic debate.

In the same session, the magistrates approved emergency agricultural measures. However, the council rejected the central article of a digital safety bill that sought to prohibit teenagers under 15 from accessing social media platforms, concluding that a general ban disproportionately restricted fundamental freedoms.
