France's Constitutional Council approved end-of-life legislation with key reservations, while striking down a proposed social media ban for under-15s.

The French Constitutional Council has approved landmark end-of-life legislation establishing a conditional right to assisted dying, while issuing three interpretative reservations. Among these, the high court explicitly guaranteed a conscience clause for private and religious healthcare facilities, allowing them to decline performing assisted dying procedures. The Council also validated an emergency agricultural reform package.

Conversely, the court struck down Article 1 of a digital safety bill championed by President Emmanuel Macron that sought to ban social media access for minors under 15. Magistrates ruled that the broad ban disproportionately restricted personal freedoms.

President Macron commended the court's validation of the end-of-life framework, describing the outcome as completing an "exemplary democratic debate."
