Former Slovenia captain Aleš Čeh and Maribor forward Jan Mlakar shared career insights and views on team rivalries ahead of the Eternal Derby.

Former Slovenian national team captain Aleš Čeh and Maribor forward Jan Mlakar have reflected on their careers and regional rivalries ahead of the upcoming Eternal Derby between Olimpija Ljubljana and Maribor.

Čeh, who captained Slovenia during its major tournament qualification era and spent over a decade as an assistant coach under Srečko Katanec, highlighted his affinity for Olimpija and Austrian side Grazer AK while expressing respect for Maribor.

Meanwhile, Ljubljana-born forward Mlakar addressed his third return to Maribor, clarifying that he was never close to signing with Olimpija. Mlakar noted that although Olimpija is currently facing internal challenges, derby fixtures allow rival clubs a chance to reset their season.
