Finnish volunteer combatant imprisoned in Russia on mercenary charges

A Finnish national who fought in Ukraine is now imprisoned in Russia, while reports detail severe manpower shortages in the Russian military.
A Finnish national in his fifties has become the first volunteer combatant from Finland known to be jailed in Russia on mercenary charges. The Helsinki resident previously fought alongside Ukrainian forces before traveling to Africa, where he was subsequently detained and placed in Russian custody.
Separately, Finnish media highlighted reports of critical troop shortages within the Russian armed forces. Citing an interview with independent outlet Meduza, a serviceman identified as Maksim stated that heavy combat losses mean "hardly any mobilized men are left" in his unit's ranks. The deficit has renewed speculation over whether Moscow might launch another broad mobilization drive to reinforce its frontlines in Ukraine.
