A Finnish journalist in Kyiv took shelter following a nearby Russian missile strike, while Russia imprisoned a Finnish foreign fighter who previously volunteered in Ukraine.
A Finnish television correspondent was forced to modify live broadcast plans in Kyiv after a Russian missile struck near his position. Yle foreign correspondent Maxim Fedorov sought shelter moments before going on air following the explosion in the Ukrainian capital.
In a separate development, Russian authorities have imprisoned a Finnish citizen from Helsinki who previously fought as a volunteer in Ukraine. The man, referred to in reports as Mikael, was detained after traveling to Africa and charged with acting as a mercenary.
The case marks the first documented instance of a Finnish foreign fighter associated with Ukraine being imprisoned by Moscow. Russian prosecutors continue to prosecute foreign nationals under mercenary laws.
