Donald Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to reach peace deal before winter

U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine before winter.

Following a telephone conversation with Putin, Trump stated he believes the Russian leader seeks a settlement, adding, "if Zelensky wants a deal, it would be great." Trump emphasized that both leaders need to reach a mutual compromise to halt the hostilities.

Zelensky described his recent meeting with Trump as "positive and productive," noting shared goals between Washington and Kyiv to stop Russian aggression in the coming months. However, neither party has released specific proposals or framework details regarding potential peace talks.
