Donald Trump urges swift peace deal between Russia and Ukraine before winter

US President Donald Trump stated he is confident Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to reach a negotiated settlement to end the conflict in Ukraine, following a telephone conversation between the two leaders.

Speaking after subsequent discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump called on both Moscow and Kyiv to agree on terms before the arrival of winter. Zelensky characterized his talks with Trump as "positive and productive," indicating that hostilities could conclude in the coming months. While both sides expressed a desire to halt the war, no detailed terms or formal ceasefire frameworks have been publicly released.
