Croatian parliament continues extraordinary session on hazardous waste amid no-confidence moves, while testimony proceeds in Malta's Caruana Galizia trial.

The Croatian parliament continued an extraordinary session in Zagreb to address the illegal disposal of hazardous waste in the Lika region, convened following a constitutional request by President Zoran Milanović. During parliamentary debates, the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) confirmed intentions to lodge a motion of no confidence against the governing coalition formed by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the Homeland Movement.

Meanwhile, the trial of Maltese businessman Yorgen Fenech continued in Valletta, where jurors heard testimony from the son of murdered investigative reporter Daphne Caruana Galizia concerning her anti-corruption inquiries prior to her October 2017 death.

Separately, findings from the Reuters Institute's Digital News Report 2026 indicated that 63 percent of surveyed citizens in Croatia actively or periodically avoid news coverage, placing the country among the highest globally.
