Ceuta's president warns of an unsustainable migration crisis as Spain begins processing asylum claims amid rising government tensions.

Ceuta's regional president, Juan Vivas, has stated that between 8,000 and 11,000 migrants remain in the enclave following recent massive border entries, describing the ongoing situation as "unsustainable." Vivas urged Spain's central government to accelerate deportations to Morocco and demanded a deployment of at least 1,000 additional personnel to fortify border security.

Meanwhile, Spanish authorities have begun processing approximately twenty initial asylum applications as order returns to the Castillejos border crossing. Some unaccompanied minors have reportedly chosen to swim back to Morocco independently. Reports also point to growing friction between Spain's Interior and Defence ministries regarding the role of military units, including the Spanish Legion, in detaining and transferring migrants back to the border.
