Ceuta officials estimate up to 5,000 migrants remain in the enclave as Spain and Morocco report conflicting arrival figures following a massive border surge.

Local authorities in Ceuta estimate that 3,000 to 5,000 migrants remain in the Spanish enclave after last week's massive border crossing. Regional President Juan Jesús Vivas reiterated claims that up to 80,000 people entered during the surge.

Conflicting official figures persist. Morocco's Interior Ministry acknowledged 40,000 arrivals in Ceuta, 1,135 in Melilla, and 11 deaths on its side of the border. Rabat denied relaxing border enforcement, blaming a Spanish court ruling for triggering the influx and accusing European politicians of exploitation.

Meanwhile, Spain's central government dismissed a National Security Department communications official for publishing an unauthorized report citing 49,000 entries. In Ceuta, military units continue detaining migrants for deportation, amid reports of growing policy rifts between Spain's Interior and Defense ministries.
