Bulgarian and Ukrainian authorities are investigating an explosive drone crash near a strategic gas pipeline in northeastern Bulgaria, with no damage reported.

Bulgarian defense officials and Ukrainian authorities are investigating an explosive drone crash near a strategic gas pipeline in northeastern Bulgaria, close to the Romanian border.

According to the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense, preliminary assessments indicate the aircraft matches a model widely operated by Ukrainian forces. However, officials stated that current findings do not suggest Bulgarian territory was deliberately targeted.

Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Kyiv remains in direct contact with Sofia to determine how the unmanned vehicle reached the area, stressing that Ukraine had no objective on Bulgarian soil. The explosion caused no casualties or damage to critical energy infrastructure.
