Bulgaria and Ukraine are investigating after an explosive-laden drone crashed near a strategic gas pipeline close to the Romanian border, with officials ruling out a deliberate attack.

Ukrainian and Bulgarian authorities are investigating the crash of an explosive-laden drone near a strategic gas installation close to the Romanian border.

According to Bulgaria's Ministry of Defense, initial assessments indicate the device resembles a model frequently deployed by the Ukrainian military. However, Bulgarian officials emphasized that there is currently no evidence suggesting national infrastructure was deliberately targeted.

Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed active communication with Sofia to determine how the incident occurred. Ministry spokesperson Georgiy Tykhy stated that Kyiv did not deliberately target Bulgarian territory and pledged full cooperation. The crash resulted in no reported casualties or damage to the nearby gas facility.
