Aleš Čeh and Jan Mlakar have shared insights on their careers and team dynamics ahead of the upcoming Slovenian football derby between Olimpija Ljubljana and Maribor.

Former national team captain Aleš Čeh and forward Jan Mlakar have shared their perspectives ahead of the upcoming Slovenian derby between Olimpija Ljubljana and Maribor.

Čeh, who captained Slovenia during manager Srečko Katanec's era, reflected on his playing career with Olimpija Ljubljana and Austrian side Grazer AK, as well as his respect for Maribor. After retiring, he spent over a decade as an assistant coach to Katanec, including seven years working in Asia.

Meanwhile, Ljubljana-born striker Jan Mlakar discussed his third spell with Maribor. Mlakar noted that despite his hometown ties, he never felt attached to Olimpija and expressed confidence in Maribor's leadership. Addressing Olimpija's current form, Mlakar remarked that while the Ljubljana club is going through a difficult period, a derby match presents a prime opportunity for a struggling side to recover.
