US indicts five alleged Russian agents over global plot targeting Ukraine allies
US prosecutors charged five alleged Russian agents with plotting assassinations of Ukraine allies, while Denmark reported Russian sabotage against defense firms.
United States federal prosecutors in Manhattan have unsealed an indictment against five alleged Russian intelligence operatives accused of managing a covert global network to execute targeted killings, surveillance, and sabotage. According to the Department of Justice, the suspects sought to hire operatives across North America and Europe to eliminate individuals and organizations supporting Ukraine.
The network has been tied to several covert operations, including a June 2024 attack in Prague. All five charged individuals currently remain at large.
Simultaneously, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service disclosed that state-sponsored Russian actors carried out physical sabotage against Danish defense contractors producing equipment for Ukraine. Authorities characterized the actions as a major escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare strategy against European nations.
